Scholarship Program

September 6, 2024

Meet Owen Sarwatka Foundation scholarship recipient - Charlize Soares  .

Charlize is graduating from South University's Tampa PTA program this Fall, and we were proud to award her a Certificate of Recognition as an Owen Sarwatka Foundation Ambassador during last nights PTA Pinning Ceremony for Cohort 30.

Charlize was selected by the South University's Scholarship Committee for her community involvement, and for displaying values that best represent those of our Foundation and of Owen Sarwatka. Charlize community minded spirit deserves recognition and support, and we wish her the best as she pursues her career goals in pediatric physical therapy.

The Owen Sarwatka Foundation is proud to be working with South University to provide this scholarship award. The outstanding recipients are a reflection on the universities commitment to excellence, and their support for our community.

The scholarship program was established to recognize students that shared their God-given gifts with our community; to promote the values of Courage, Compassion, and Conservation; and to allow students to have the opportunity to reflect on their own legacy, and how they want to be remembered. We hope that recipients will continue supporting our community, encourage others to do the same, and that they will reflect on our Foundations values to work every day on their personal goals that define them.

Congratulations Charlize!

Conservancy Mission

March 19, 2024

Meet Pongo!

Pongo is a highly intelligent and kind male orangutan that is a resident at the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary.  The Suncoast Primate Sanctuary Foundation, Inc. (SPSFI) is a non-profit volunteer-run organization that provides a safe haven and forever home to over 130 residents in Palm Harbor, FL.

The Owen Sarwatka Foundations 2024 Conservancy Mission recognizes SPSFI for supporting our values of Courage, Compassion and Conservation.  Our Foundation is excited to award a $5,000 grant to the Suncoast Primate Sanctuary to help fund its efforts in providing Pongo  a new enclosure that is worthy of his stature.

Orangutans are “Critically Endangered” and Suncoast Primate Sanctuary is graced with providing homes to three of these great apes. Many experts believe that orangutans will be extinct in the wild in less than 50 years, and each of us has the ability to ensure their survival. Our Foundations goal is to support the organizations in our community as they work each day to provide the resources needed to ensure future generations can enjoy these gifts of nature.
